How do you eat an elephant...

                                  ...One bite at a time!!

Well, hanging out around the bed and couch! Not much energy! Just finished a round of antibiotics and prednisone for Pleurisy. Still feeling blah! The good news is that I have found a new doctor! This one seems to be knowledgeable, thorough, and compassionate! The more pleased I am with her, the more upset I get at all of the others! Don't they take the same oath? I have always felt that I have fallen between the cracks concerning medical care during my 25 years with Sarcoidosis. My new Doctor discovered some new problems and may have just saved my life! Thank you Lord!!! :) My new Doctor is part of the M.D.V.I.P. Program. Check it out if you're looking for a really good Doctor!! You will pay an upfront fee, similar to a retainer with a lawyer. For your office visits, they file most insurance, just like other Doctors, with a co-pay. The great thing is that these Doctors are limited to 400-600 patients, which means you get more individual attention. (And a personal cell phone number)

"I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me." Philippians 4:13

About the elephant...we are moving toward a simple path but right now our lives seem pretty complicated! There is light at the end of the tunnel, but we have a major to-do list!! Between Hubby's full-time job, the additional work of the animal rescue, doctor and lab visits, and house-hunting for whats next, we are very busy!! Then add in giveaways, throwaways, sorting through boxes of books, and mounds of papers in order to down-size. Oh yeah, I need to help Melissa (My middle Daughter) get the rest of her furniture and belongings out of the master bedroom. YAAY--one whole room will be empty soon! And of course, we could always use a few more forever homes for our rescue animals!

Rental house at the lake in the country or park model travel trailer in the country near the existing animal rescue? Both appeal, and are smaller than our current house--a definite plus! I love just sitting outside and listening to the birds sing!! It makes me happy! Whichever one we decide, will be a more simple lifestyle, and require us to down-size even further. This is going to feel really good, but getting there is really a rough ride right now. Living a simple life is the goal and well worth the struggle!

Febuary Meanderings...

Snow angel from a friend

:) Welcome to our new follower, Christie from At Sixes & Sevens! It is so great to meet another person dedicated to animal rescue!

The above picture of a snow angel was sent to me by my dear friend David who is living in the snow covered mountains. We have had a mild winter here up until the last week. The last few nights have found the temperatures dropping down to the 20's, which is too chilly for this Georgia Peach!!

Happy Valentines Day! My February is filled with Birthdays, Sweet Days, and one very special Anniversary!

9th-Happy Birthday to my dear friend Jack!
10th-Happy Birthday to my Mom! (Her 82nd)
12th-Happy Birthday to my Daughter Melissa! This is also the one year anniversary of getting my Basset Hound puppy, Charlie.
14th-Happy Valentines Day! Tomorrow is the real Sweet Day, when I buy candy at 1/2 price! :)
15th-Happy Anniversary to my wonderful Husband Mike!! Thank you for being my sweetheart!

I am still not feeling quite myself these days! Feeling pretty weak and not sure when or if I will bounce back. Still looking into the possibility of launching into a non -profit status for our animal rescue. We are still involved in personal animal rescue as we have been for the past 5-6 years, but not sure what the future holds. It is taking alot of money and time when I am at a place where my health is deteriorating. We must make some tough choices!

What's next..?

The For Sale Sign
First, let me explain my absence for nearly a month. The whole family was sick from Christmas on. I did not realize at the time how sick I was, but each day seemed to run into the next and before I
knew it, Febuary was here. I did have one decent weekend in January so I got in my wheelchair for an outing. Mike, Alexis and I , along with my sister, took my Mother out for an early Birthday Lunch to Red Lobster. After lunch we went to the local mall so that my Mom could shop for the Christmas outfit I promised her. She found a really nice pantsuit. Later we walked through the mall and Alexis got her ears pierced. She had been wanting to have this done for the past 4 years and the timing was right.
After the mall, we indulged in Krispy Kreme donuts. Everyone had a good time! Did I mention that I found pullover sweaters on sale for $5?

About the picture--Land for Sale--we have been searching for a nice tract of land for the Animal Rescue. We have found a 5-10 acre property in our area and believe this might be a good fit for us. We have been rescuing animals privatly for 5-6 years and plan to start a legal non-profit rescue and no-kill shelterin the South Georgia area. we hope to cover a Tri-County area of Screven, Effingham, and Bulloch. More about this later...

Critter Clarity...

:) First, let me welcome my new follower, (actually, my first!!), Carolyn of Musings By The Creekside. So happy to have you on board! I enjoy reading your blog as well.

I must say that while we have been searching for ways to simplify our lives, that one of the things we were considering was to find a way to close our private animal rescue. Although this is not what we really wanted, all of the work and all the financial responsibility fell on my husbands shoulders. With his work schedule, and my being so ill it is indeed a hardship! Over the holidays, we have  come across many animals that needed help, and have found that we are it. We believe that God put us together for many reasons, and one of those is because we both have big hearts for needy animals. We must find a way to keep the animal rescue going and possibly even increase it's size. We are going to look into starting an official animal rescue with non-profit status, that way we can be eligible for grants and donations from the general public. Also, we may be able to find volunteers in the community to help, as well as seasonal Work-Campers. With this in mind, we will start to look for a 5-10 acre site in the general area for our animal rescue and eventual no-kill shelter. We hope to serve a tri-county area near us in south Georgia. Please pray with us that God's Little Critters Animal Rescue and No-Kill Shelter will become a reality and a bright spot in the community.

                                                      Animal Rescue is Our Mission!

And another cat....

Okay, so Mike and I found out that we are both Animal Lovers! This means of course that along the way we have adopted several pets to join our home. Mike already had 2 dogs when we got married and I had 2 cats. Soon, it seemed that we had developed a reputation for Animal Rescue. We always would leave food out for the strays and at some point people would drop off animals that they could no longer take care of. We have even found a few kittens (Including the one shown above) at a nearby dumpster. Naturally, we brought them home. We have found a good many homes for these animals over the years, but need to place many, many more. It was enjoyable work and very rewarding when we both were participating. But now, since I am blind, all of the duties at our private animal rescue fall on my husband Mike. This has just become way too much work for him on top of his full-time job. The other thing that hurts is our budget, because every dime that goes into the rescue is ours. We love these animals and want to find The Best homes for them! In order to get to the simple life that we want, we have a BIG job ahead of us, finding homes for these remaining animals. We pray that this will happen soon, as we do have a time constraint. This will take a large load off of my husband's shoulders. However, we do not regret  the past 5-6 years that we have rescued animals and saved their lives when possible. I cherish the memories of all the precious animals that we lost and believe in my heart they will all be waiting at the Rainbow Bridge. Thank you Lord!!
